Loving This World

Listening to the crowd that roars
In anger and despair
Thunder clouds are gathering
There’s violence in the air
I’m so aware


Sitting in my comfy chair
Watching on TV
Rain falls like a freak monsoon
Darkening my soul
Losing all control
Losing all that makes us whole

I’ve been observing through the years
Our world from time to time
Just falling apart
What is the point?
What is the goal?
When will the planet deem
Enough is enough

We must find a way
To find a balance
Find a way of saving this world
Loving this world
The challenge starts today
There must be a way
To change our attitude
to how we live in this world

Scenes of violence
scenes of gore
Fire bombs and bullets fly
Children scream and grown men cry
An empty class where girls once learned
A thing of times gone by
Oh how they cry

I see repression everywhere
Misogyny and hatred
Raise my despair
We’ll find a way or so they say
Can human-kind step up
Or let the earth just fade to grey

We must find a way

Coasts awash with sewage flush
Toxic rivers choke the seas
Acid rain, volcanic dust
Nuclear waste and plastic cups
Children scavenge landfill mountains

Forests burning, Ice flows melting
Oceans rising, gun disease
Demonstrations, mass unrest
Religious psychos and terrorists
Self-destruction seems manifest today

I’m not a fan of life today
Everywhere I look there’s some
Destructive power at play
And global warming’s here to stay
We as mere mortals just can’t
Make it go away

We must find a way
To find a balance
Find a way of saving this world
